The Election Coverage and Democracy Network, or ECAD, has mined decades of electoral research to put together a list of recommendations for journalists covering the upcoming election.

Their guide includes steps reporters can take between now and Nov. 3, what happens if there’s a contested election and what to do in the case of civil unrest.
