Paul, one of the nation’s foremost leading experts on campaign finance law and the Federal Election Commission (FEC), is Executive Director of the NYC Campaign Finance Board. He previously worked with Common Cause, where he helped guide the organization’s policy and litigation work in all substantive areas including money in politics, ethics, voting rights, and redistricting. In addition to his federal work he also helped review legislation and legal issues on the state and local level. Before joining Common Cause in October 2016, he worked as Deputy Executive Director of the Campaign Legal Center. Paul is widely quoted by media, published regularly in major national outlets and appears frequently on TV.
