Nathan is a visiting lecturer of sociology at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a political and cultural sociologist who specializes in the relationship between media and politics. His dissertation, Turning Money into Speech tracks how the history of campaign finance reform influences coordination among political advertisers. He is currently working on a manuscript based on his dissertation. Other works he has written focus on music and society, including analysis of far-right punk scenes.
