Jonathan Hassid is a Professor in Political Science. Prior to coming to Iowa State in 2015, he received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley (2010) and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Technology, Sydney (2010-2014). A China specialist, his research interests mainly revolve around the politics of the Chinese news media and ways to measure symbolic power around the world. He has published extensively, with articles in Comparative Political Studies, China Quarterly, the Journal of Communication, Journalism, and elsewhere.
