Ian Bassin is the founding Executive Director of Protect Democracy, a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to preventing American democracy from declining into autocracy.

He previously served as Associate White House Counsel where he advised the President, senior White House staff and federal agencies on democracy-related issues, Constitutional law, and the rules and norms that govern executive branch official conduct.

He has expertise on domestic and international issues related to democracy, elections and electoral crises, and the rule of law.
